Dimitri Minucci is easily shaping up as this year’s artist to watch. The sexy and soulful singer/songwriter has just released his first full-length album "Now After All I’ve Done" and is returning for a special performance to the Triad on the Upper West Side. He’s pleased to finally be performing tracks from the debut release including his latest single "Lucid" and "Never Say Never." It’s part of the launch of this moment, to which Minucci has long been waiting to exhale.

"I guess in hindsight I did take a long time compiling the songs that would become part of the album," Minucci introspectively reveals. "In the beginning, they were intended to be part of a demo, but then I looked back and realized I had a collection of songs which were so cohesive that they were an album. It was like opening a journal." The artist’s process is one that is very personal and revealing; Minucci does not shy away from being revelatory on this project.

"Now After All I’ve Done" is an exemplary collection of well orchestrated and vocally arranged songs. If you’re expecting pop/dance/electronica you may have to wait for the remixes, or Dimitri Minucci’s next album project. He has a powerful base in understanding the songwriting process, and is studied in popular adult-contemporary artists. "It’s all still pop-music," he says, "and I’ve been engulfed in all kinds of pop music." And after all "pop" stands for "popular" music.

Taking the Stage

Minucci is dependent on a rather different kind of instrument than the heavy production of electronica. "My voice is my instrument...it’s my first instrument." Minucci attended a performance arts high school and collaborated with John Degrazio to put the album together. Most of the tracks were composed first on guitar and piano, before they took the material into the studio. And he’s certainly not a stranger to the stage. "My background is in musical theater," he says. "I’ve been performing for as long as I can remember. My mom always pushed me out onto the front, and told me I was her little star." Minucci who lost his mother when he was younger, has dedicated this album to her memory.

The new single "Lucid" is being released on DJ Eddie Martinez’s label and will feature some of the more popularized club-ready sounds that will mark Minucci’s move into club land, but in the meantime he’s comfortably taking the stage with his band for a performance at the Triad, on Thursday, June 21st @ 7pm.

"I needed to release this as an album," Minucci happily exclaims. "It’s a challenge for me not to make music...and there’s something that happens when you sing in front of an audience." Minucci is prepared to take his audience on a very special trip, and after all he’s accomplished this is still the beginning!
