Televangelist Pat Robertson warned a viewer this week that inviting a lesbian friend to her home could cause her children to "grow up as lesbians."

Raw Story reports that the viewer, only known as "Catherine," recently reconnected with a childhood friend who was a lesbian and invited the woman to meet her children. She later became concerned when she asked to bring her same-sex partner.

"I don’t want her to think that I’m okay with her ways," the viewer explained, according to the Raw Story. "And I don’t feel comfortable having her around my children."

According to Right Wing Watch, the "700 Club"’s Robertson reportedly told one of his flock that while she should love the friend, she should also shun the "lifestyle."

"You keep love, you loved her, you were close and your influence may have been something significant to her, the idea is you don’t gain anything by shunning," Robertson said. "But at the same you don’t want your children to grow up as lesbians, that’s what you’re talking about, you don’t want to show them that that’s an acceptable lifestyle for your family.

"It doesn’t hurt to tell somebody: I love you, we are going to do what we can to be friends if we can," he contiuned. "I have my lifestyle, it’s Christian and you have yours, it’s not; I’m sorry we can’t indulge in certain things together."

Robertson said that the woman’s friend would "respect her honesty."

Wow if things can rub off on you this easy, I hope I never meet this guy because then I too will be an instant asshole!!

Pat Robertson’s fear-mongering flies in the absolute opposite direction of the real facts. You cannot recruit anyone to be Gay or Lesbian.. Why do United States taxpayers tolerate this man being given continued charitable tax status, allowing his business to avoid paying his share of taxes at a time when the country is in serious debt?

It’s so sad that misguided fools like that have so much power to deliver their disproven, nasty opinions to other equally uneducated, uneducateable, and lifeless morons. My husband and I have many Lesbian friends, I guarantee, it has not rubbed off on us even one bit. Obviously. I agree, there should be a law that states that any religious group who attacks ANY minority, that they lose all tax benefits and any other Gov perks they receive. Personally, it’s insulting and offensive to me and my family that these religions don’t pay taxes, ripping us all off, then having the nerve to cause all this crap!

Warn the friend not to bring her children when she visits. She doesn’t want them to grow up to be idiots.
