GLAAD announced that all six major pro sports leagues would wear purple on Spirit Day, an annual event to bring awareness about anti-gay bullying. Many musicians, actors and personalities also participated.

Wilson Cruz, a gay actor who starred in "My So-Called Life" and "Noah’s Arc," will now be staff member with GLAAD after working with the organization for years.

The advocacy group GLAAD has given the CW network high marks among broadcast outlets for its portrayal of gay and lesbian characters. Meanwhile, cable networks Showtime, ABC Family, TNT and HBO all were given a favorable rating by the group.
