A commission advising the Ukrainian government is targeting "SpongeBob Squarepants" and other children’s TV shows for "promoting homosexuality," among other purported hidden agenda items, such as pornography & promoting drug use.

With an eye toward severe criticism from the European Union, Ukrainian lawmakers failed to vote on a "gay gag rule," similar to that passed in some Russian areas, which would have prohibited individuals from discussing LGBT rights in public.

Sir Elton John recently wrote an article for the British newspaper The Guardian, where he criticized a potential Ukrainian law that would prohibit the media from reporting on LGBT rights.
