From the NBA’s Jason Collins’ coming out to the LGBT nights in countless minor and major league ballparks, the gay community is beginning to have a presence in the world of professional sports.

Jason Collins said on Tuesday that the support he’s received after coming out has been "incredible." Though President Obama and former President Clinton have supported the NBA veteran, some have criticized his announcement and the overwhelming support.

Executives at the sporting-goods company said they want to work with the first openly gay professional athlete who remains actively playing for a major U.S. team.
