Grocery chain Kroger Co. is making a big push into the beauty business, this summer more than doubling its number of store-brand cosmetics, shampoos and other items while preparing to launch more products this fall and next year.

Better sales of higher-priced skin care products such as a Clinique skin-tone corrector helped cosmetics maker Estee Lauder return a fourth-quarter profit, the company said Thursday.

A company that manufactures hair extensions sued the socialite in Los Angeles on Wednesday, claiming she breached her contract to wear and promote their product. The lawsuit claims Hilton agreed to wear Hairtech International Inc.’s extensions, but sported the fake locks of a competitor in 2008.
