Matt Damon stars as a recently widowed father of two in the charming and homespun story of "We Bought a Zoo." Attempting to give himself, his teenage son and six-year-old daughter a fresh start in new surroundings, he buys a rural home with an extensive amount of land around it. The land also includes...lions and tigers and bears, oh my! This newly acquired property is also home to the Rosemoor Animal Park. I gather you would fathom this was part of the scenario, as the film’s title pretty much lays it on the line, right?

Directed by Cameron Crowe, the film also co-stars Scarlett Johansson as the head zookeeper. Her character simply doesn’t trust or think that new owner (Damon) has any clue as to what he’s gotten himself involved in. Hence, as the film progresses... finances, feelings and family issues come into play. The film is based on a true story and Crowe’s directorial skill has a natural flair of realism while adding in just the right amount of feel-good emotional qualities. It’s not only about "talking to the animals" per say but also about the power of communication and understanding between a father and his son as they both strive to come-to-terms with the loss of a loved one.

"We Bought a Zoo" is presented in the three formats of Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital Copy that are all showcased in this combo-pack. As is often the case these days, the Blu-Ray version comes with more of an assortment of bonus features, over two and a half hours worth, which include deleted and extended scenes, a gag reel and four behind-the-scenes featurettes including voice-over commentary by Cameron Crowe. "We Bought a Zoo" is an adventure to enjoy and a film that easily wins a blue ribbon in high-quality family entertainment.
