PopUps: Justin Bieber Held an Emotional Listening Party for New Album, Say Reports

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Justin Bieber shared his new album during a private listening party in Los Angeles last Thursday where he is said to have been very emotional and ended the night suggesting he was going to have sex with his wife – a theme that runs throughout the singer's yet-untitled new LP, according to a report from Rolling Stone.

In the magazine's report, written by Brittany Spanos and Samantha Hissong, Bieber, 25, said the new album is a representation of his "growth from a boy to a man." Over the last few years, Bieber has been more vocal about his religious views and has settled down, marrying model Hailey Baldwin.

"I don't even think I should be alive," Bieber said at the event, according to Billboard, adding he faced a "super challenging" period in his life. "I feel like God's brought me out of a really dark place."

Rolling Stone notes that as Bieber began to thanks those close around him, he "began to cry profusely," and "choked out" his manager Scooter Bruan's name "between having sobs and tearfully looked at his wife."

"He ended the touching moment with a joke about 'shooting himself 'because he was either so happy or so emotional about the people in his life," Rolling Stone writes.

Billboard calls Bieber's new album "futuristic R&B/pop" and that it is reminiscent of his 2013 album "Journals" and his latest single "Yummy" is indicative of the sound of the album but "with a thematic focus on the healing powers of love and marriage." Rolling Stone echoes that, writing:

Baldwin heavily influenced the album, with R&Bieber, the self-assigned genre label that sees Bieber returning to the R&B-pop of earlier projects like "Journals" and "Believe," dominating the music. With this new project, he abandons the evangelical EDM of "Purpose" in favor of trap-soul jams about sex with your model wife.

At the end of the album, Rolling Stone writes Bieber "seemed relived...ready to pursue more nonmusical activities with his wife."

Rolling Stone adds:

"You know what that means," [Bieber] said with a literal wink toward the crowd as Hailey covered her face while laughing at his statement. "Things are about to get pretty freaky." Quickly, they both slipped out.

Bieber has yet to announce an official title for the project, which will be his fifth studio album and has not revealed a release date. His YouTube docuseries debuts Jan. 27 and his single "Yummy" peaked on Billboard's Hot 100 at no. 2.
