READ TIME: 1 MIN.

During the American Music Awards Tuesday night, out comic Billy Eichner and "Transparent" star Kathryn Hahn presented the award for Best Adult Contemporary musician. But the "American Horror" actor took the time to make a passionate plea, urging millennials to register to vote for the 2018 midterm elections.

"Young people of America, the biggest election of our lifetime is happening, on November 6," Eichner said. "Tonight is the final night to register in 20 states in this country. Please grab your friends. Tell them to vote. Now is the time.

"If you believe in equality for women, for people of color, for the LGBTQ community, if you believe if climate change is real and that we need to do something about it," he added. "Don't let anyone tell you your vote won't count. It does!"

After the show, Eichner took to social media to comment on the moment. Over on Twitter, he wrote: "Went off script at the #AMAs to remind young people to vote and was rewarded with a hug from the awesome @ShawnMendes. NOW LET'S VOTE, PEOPLE!!!"
